During 2020 and 2021, Judy Chicago created Life on Pause, a series of paintings on porcelain, as a response to the restrictions and isolation caused by COVID-19 lockdowns. The series expressed her feelings that this new way of living engendered: disappointed, confined, anxious, and suspended. These same words and others appear like walls around contorting figures trying to fit into their cramped spaces.
